PLACES TO VISIT IN THE MADEN
HISTORICAL GOVERNMENT HOUSE AND CLOCK TOWER: It was built in 1895 during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II. There is an Ottoman clock tower, which is located in the garden of the government mansion and adds a historical look to the district. The clock tower is estimated to have been built in 1898. After the upper part of the clock tower was destroyed, it was restored to its original form.
MOSQUE KEBİR: It is in Şehit Adnan Mavidemir Street in the Mosque Kebir District in the district center. It was built in 1872 by Sultan Abdülhamit II during the Ottoman period. The most important feature of the mosque is that it is included in the issue of “Servet-i Fünun” dated April 11, 1899. Its minaret is made of stone and a very exquisite workmanship is seen.
ÇİTLİ HÖYÜK: The mound located in Yazıtepe locality is 30 meters high. It is full of unbaked brick pieces around it, so in a sense it gives the feeling of a brick kiln. There is also a brick building remains. Based on the remains of the brick building, brick fragments and ceramic fragments scattered around, it is estimated that the mound is a late Hittite period settlement. The hill part is a relatively flat area and towards the south there is a possible Medieval cemetery made of shapeless stones. It was registered as a cultural asset in 1999 and taken under protection.
SHEIKH MUHAMMED KATTALI TOMB: It is in Kaltaldere Village, 15 km north of Gezin town of the district center. The tomb is on a small hill on a flat land. The tomb was built in 1969 with the aid collected from the public. The tomb is entered through a large balcony in front of it. The interior of the tomb consists of an office, a guest house, a masjid and a kitchen. Spring water flows from the stream bed to the right of the tomb.
GEZİN VILLAGE: Gezin Village of the district center is on the shore of Lake Hazar. There are recreational facilities of various public institutions and organizations and villas belonging to private persons in the village.
